Skylar “Casanova” Mulder, Content Coordinator for Legends of Runeterra
I want to start this off by expressing how excited I am to be working with Giant Slayer on a game that I absolutely adore. Legends of Runeterra came out during a time when what I needed most was a home and I found it with this amazing community that we’ve started to build here. Ian (workhorse) and I have been trying to make content together for a little over a year now and have struggled to find the perfect place for me to fit. I spent a lot of time in the early stages of Giant Slayer TFT helping put together shows like “Fight Night” and “The Goons” but as I had my focus split on multiple different titles it didn’t make sense for me to have a very active role on the Giant Slayer TFT team.
Fast forward to now. After months of talking back and forth and trying to figure something out, the stars have aligned for us to create something really special in the Runeterra community. I have spent the past few months not only competing at a very high level but casting just about every single Legends of Runeterra tournament that I could get my hands on. I have listened to the community and have been constantly looking for ways to help grow our community and provide a platform for our competitive players and streamers to grow as well. This culmination of events has all led to me joining Giant Slayer as the Legends of Runeterra Content Coordinator so that I may bring the best and most entertaining competitive LoR action that we can possibly produce.
I cannot overstate the hype we have to start bringing you these events, so I might as well jump right into it with what is happening now, and then share some of my thoughts for the future.
If you are familiar with the Giant Slayer brand you are familiar with Fight Night, as this channel and this show go hand in hand. With that being said I am proud to announce we are going to continue that tradition with our very own “Fight Night: Legends”. We will be inviting 8 players each week with a $200 prize pool, king-of-the-hill-style fighting for cash and glory. This fight night will have the philosophy of inviting players that are influential in the community and/or have shown their prowess in the game either through ladder or tournament play. Now I didn’t want to stop there, so every fifth week we’re going to go bigger. We want to invite the best 16 players from each month to our “Fight Night: Reckoning” where they can compete for a $1,000 prize pool in the most stacked brackets full of the best games we can possibly bring together.
All these events will be cast by myself and Blevins, whom Giant Slayer fans may recognize as the voice behind our TFT youtube videos… Speaking of YouTube, you can also expect not only an Esports YouTube page where you can find VoDs and Highlights of events, but also we’ll be launching a channel for short form content with tips and tricks as well as deck guides for you to learn the game or hone your skills.
We will be rolling all of this out in the month of June, so don’t worry – you won’t have to wait long, but this won’t be the end of it. We don’t want to just stop here: we want to be able to roll out more events to both the Americas server but also for the European server. We want to expand past fight night into potential league formats, team formats, opens, and more, with bigger and bigger prize pools as we can scale up.
For all of you that have followed me on this adventure through Runeterra thus far, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the support. For those of you just joining us, I want to welcome you with open arms as we jump into a new chapter and hopefully a new era of amazing Legends of Runeterra esports and content.
Thank you for reading,
Skylar “Casanova” Mulder
